- If you live in Tampa Bay, Why are you here?
- Ha! My parents, life and my own free will have colluded to bring me here and keep me coming back.
- How long have you lived here?
- eighteen years
- What neighborhood do you live in, why did you choose it and what do you like about it?
- Near USF because that's where life happens for me. I have no reason not to like the location, it sustains me.
- If you were to move to a different neighborhood, what would it be and why?
- All I know is that I can't live in the middle of the suburbs, because I don't belong in gated communities.
- What is your favorite thing about Tampa?
- It's my home.
- What kinds of things are you involved in?
- This would require some time and effort. Let me just be content with saying: a lot. But, I'll name a few of the more recent ones.
I am a debate judge for Florida Gulf Coast Catholic Forensics League Tournaments, the Co-Founder and student coordinator of the USF Coalition for Global Justice (with whom I still consult), the Co-Founder and Vice President of the Social Activist Anthropological Research Project (SAARP) at USF, the Founder and President of Habitat for Humanity at the University of South Florida for three years., and also a Big Brothers Big Sisters Events volunteer and coordinator.
Currently, I'm taking it easy and focusing on classes for my last semester of college. And, not to mention that I'm a graduate and devoted supporter of the International Baccalaureate Organization in Florida. It has, does and will continue to do wonders for our kids and our education system.
- Tell us about what you do.
- I am a citizen, a student, a student activist, a volunteer, a friend and family member.
- If you live in Tampa, Why do you stay?
- Home is where my heart is.
- Where else have you lived?
- Born in Calcutta, West Bengal (crazy, I know!); Nashville, Tennessee; Guatemala; Cambridge, England (three weeks is a long time when you set up shop in another country); and definitely St.Pete, Florida by the end of May.
- What kinds of things are you interested in seeing on Brand Tampa?
- I would like to see things that remind a Tampanian such as myself, that we're not all getting lost is the massive socio-economic/political developments that are taking place in this town. I know Tampa's Powers That Be would like to see us become a sprawling metropolis of sorts, but my sadness stems from watching families and individuals getting lost in the process of it. Sometimes development isn't progress.
I would like to see listings and reviews of tri-city-area (Tampa, Clearwater, St.Pete) cultural and entertainment events, such as theatre, dance and musical productions. I would also like to know the questions, comments and concerns of other members regarding Tampa.
